SMS Payment System Patent from Google
Combine this news with the much rumored gPhone, or Google’s entry into the mobile market, and the implications are incredible for marketing.
Will this be the sort of kick in the pants that American marketers and advertisers need in order to catch up with the rest of the world (as in Japan’s DoCoMo) who has been accustomed to mobile marketing for a long while? If it happens, I think so.
Mobile and video are the future. Get on board before it’s too late…
The Text Message Payment patent, filed on February 28th 2006, details how text messages could be used to pay for goods from vending machines and retailers as well as secure methods for validating larger payment amounts.
