PostieCon Delayed Due to Poor Attendance

May 5, 2007 by Evan

PayPerPost’s “PostieCon” conference has been moved to November in Las Vegas due to poor attendance, according to keynote Robert Scoble. The conference was to be held on June 2 in Orlando, Florida.

Scoble’s decision to speak at a conference organized and run by PayPerPost generated all sorts of controversy (for good reason). It looks as if the people have spoken and the market has solved our hand-wringing over the troubles that these pay per review services bring to the blogosphere.

My good friend and blogging expert Jim Kukral was also slated to speak at the June PostieCon.  I’d love to get his thoughts on all of this.

Scoble also wroe that he won’t be speaking at the conference in November.

Now if we could just convince newer bloggers that there are better ways to monetize blogs and content than taking money from companies such as PayPerPost or ReviewMe (sorry, no links to them) that upholds some dignity.

Think long term, write good content and you’ll find the audience and the audience you need.  Blogging is not an avenue to a get rich quick scenario, no matter what the “experts” or top bloggers in your niche (including online marketing) tell you.  Stick to your guns, write about what is interesting to you or what you’re passionate about and you’ll be happier and more successful as time goes by.

Thanks, free market!
