I Still Love Twitter and Why You Should Too
Say what you want (Scott), but Twitter is still one of my favorite applications.
It’s completely inane, inconsequential and downright silly.
For instance, here’s a twitter that Robert Scoble just posted:
Scobleizer: Going to Amazon in Seattle. Maybe I’ll buy a book. Heheh, not.
And that’s the beauty of Twitter.
It’s a worldwide exercise in playful and short communication that defies rhyme or reason. And sometimes, we need to just play with technology. Is that marketable? Yes.
Why? Because, in the grand scheme of things, all marketing (and technology) is just as insipid as Twitter. So, don’t think too highly of yourself or your “business.” Get in there and play with this stuff. Otherwise, go do something useful like farming or curing diseases, because what we do in online and affiliate marketing shouldn’t be taken that seriously.
So, go break your MySpace page, make your blog look ugly, mangle your CSS… but for the love of all that is earthly, please remember that we when we are doing our jobs here in the online virtual marketing world, we are not writing books for the ages, composing masterpieces for the violin, or instilling mythologies that will last long after we have gone back to the dusty eternal atoms that inhabit and compose us for such a short time.
In many respects, those neutrons, electrons and protons are just Twittering themselves, causing us to exist.
