Robert Scoble points out how a couple of features in the Google Reader Facebook application developed by Mario Romero could lead to a better Digg through social networking.
This is the beginning of something really killer. It?s something I wanted Google to do ? Google could put out a Digg-style killer that?d be a lot harder to game. Admittedly this isn?t to the level of a Digg killer yet, but it is gathering steam at a very rapid pace. There?s a lot of smart people using Google Reader ? Eric Auchard at Reuters is on the list, for instance. That?ll lead to a lot better news than Digg picks on an average day.
If you use Google Reader and have a Facebook profile (and are addicted to feed reading, or at least like to be in the know), then this app will easily become one of your favorites.
And if you do add the application and aren’t friends with me on Facebook yet, let’s connect so that we can make our information consumption more efficient!
Of course, this isn’t a “Digg Killer” for everyone… just the hyper-niche of people who use both the shared items feature on Google Reader and Facebook apps. However, that’s a powerful and loud hyper-niche!
